I'm an experienced communications professional and a New York City newbie;

From the "Just for Laughs" comedy festival in Montreal to Canada's largest communications company, I have been writing, planning, brainstorming, and telling stories for over ten years.
- I was the personal executive writer to the President, CIO, and several vice-presidents at Rogers Communications. One fun thing I did was write and manage the President's blog.
- I created a communications strategy for a multi-year transformational project at Rogers. It was all about replacing an aging IT systems infrastructure with one that would provide a better experience for our customers, and it called for some serious "change management."
- I helped the local chapter of the International Association of Business Communicators boost its profile. One tactic that got us a lot of attention was the "2010 Communications Report Card" in which we rated how well various newsmakers of 2010 had managed their own communications crises.

I am also a part-time graduate student at Columbia University;

Since September 2011, I have been spent my weeknights pursuing a Master's of Science in Strategic Communications at Columbia University.
After several years out in the working world, it's been really fun to be back in an academic environment. Coming from diverse professional backgrounds, my classmates and I work together to tackle interesting communications problems - like what to say to get rural Kansans to care about energy conservation and how to rebuild customers' trust after a public relations disaster.
This semester, I'm taking "Communications for Social Change." It's inspiring to be in a class with smart passionate people whose spend their workdays persuading people to give money for international disasters (Red Cross) and young people to care about voting (MTV).
